Local resistance is vital but insufficient to challenge the sprawling forces of global capitalism. To invent the future, the left must build power that scales—connecting neighborhoods, cities, and nations into coherent, sustained movements.
Scaling power involves network building, coalition formation, and global solidarity. Digital platforms offer tools to coordinate actions and share strategies, but movements must also engage with cultural production, media, and education to build new common sense narratives.
Building counter-hegemony means creating dominant ideas that resonate broadly, contesting neoliberalism’s grip on culture and politics. This requires patience, strategic vision, and a willingness to embrace complexity and mediation.
Renewing leftist organizations with flexible structures, inclusive leadership, and intellectual rigor is also essential. Theory and practice must be integrated to develop effective strategies and sustain momentum.
Historical successes show that combining grassroots activism with institutional engagement creates durable movements capable of systemic transformation.
By building power thoughtfully and inclusively, the left can lead the way to a postcapitalist future where freedom, justice, and abundance are shared by all.
